The goal of Google Material Design concept is to “Create a visual language that synthesizes classic principles of good design with the innovation and possibility of technology and science.” In short, the goal is to create a design which will give the same experience across all the type and size of devices.


Material Design basically follows three fundamental principles,


1) Material is the Metaphor

A material metaphor is the theory of the system of motion and space. This principle is inspired by the concept of paper and ink. This is the technologically advanced concept which is open to any imagination or magic. The basics of light, surface, and movement are the key to convey how objects will move, interact and exist in the space.


2) Bold, Graphic, Intentional

These are also the key elements when it comes to printed designs. The purpose of typography, grids, space, scale, and color is not just to please the eyes of a user but also to create a hierarchy, meaning and focus. Intentional white space makes the interface look bold and provides waypoints for the users.


3) Motion provides meaning

The motion should be meaningful and efficient. It makes the user prime mover. All type of actions takes place in a single environment. Motion maintains continuity.

Color combination plays a vital role when it comes to designing Android or web application. You can’t apply your favorite colors wherever you feel using them. The first step is to decide the color scheme or color palette.
