1). Sign Up

After filling up this form, click on CREATE YOUR STORE button. Here, you will be asked to fill some more details including the name of your store. Like your Email Id, your store name should also be unique, else Shopify will ask you to choose other names.

6). Set the collection of your products
By collection, we mean the group of products. You can create collections for the clothes like men’s wear, women’s wear and children’s wear. Or you can create collections for items on sale as well.


The same product can appear in more than one collection. The collection should be displayed on home page or in the navigation menu.

7). Payment Gateways

You will charge for your products, right? Won’t you?

So, here payment gateway comes into the picture. Your clients can pay you for the products they purchase from your store via a payment gateway. With features of the payment gateway you select, the price and commission rates are also important.

You need to consider the following parameters while selection of payment gateway.

  • Transaction Fees

When your customers pay for the product, some payment gateways will keep a small margin in percentage or some flat fees for providing their services.

  • Card Types

You also need to look that which cards are being accepted by the payment gateway chosen by you. Some accepts VISA cards where some accepts American Express.


8). Now it’s time to go live

In order to go live, you need to fill few more details about your company and how you are planning to make the delivery. You also need to mention some details about taxes.


  1. Go to the Products page of admin
  2. Click on the name of a given product.
  3. Go to the section named “Inventory & variants”.
  4. Click on the edit link .
  5. Make sure the checkboxes next to Charge taxes and Requires shipping are checked if you want to charge for it.
  6. Some stores won’t require to charge taxes or shipping on products like digital products. On the other side, a T-shirt store will have to charge both.
  7. If you are going to provide shipping facility, don’t forget to mention the weight of your product in the appropriate field.

You can define rules for shipping. If your shipping range is too narrow, you can loose some potential customers. Shopify will calculate shipping charges based on the rules defined by you without loss of any customer.

9). Consider buying a domain name

You will obviously require a unique domain name representing to your store, in order to get your Shopify store live. If you don’t have any primary knowledge of domain and host, you can get it from shopify and it will be automatically added to your store. The second option is, you can get your domain from other companies like GoDaddy, BlueHost or any other.

  1. Add the new domain in Shopify store

Once you have purchased a domain name for your store, Go to SettingsDomainsAdd an existing domain.

  1. Update the DNS records

Login to your domain registrar and make the following changes to the DNS records:

  • Replace the @ or main A record with the following IP address:
  • Replace the www CNAME with
  1. Remove any storefront passwords

Yeah, you need to remove the password, because if you have set the password for your storefront, then no one will be able to access your store though it is live.

  1. Set as primary if relevant

If you are going to have your store on too many domains, then you need to set one as primary domain where all the traffic from other domains will be redirected.

You need to go in Settings Domains and choose the domain from the dropdown menu. You also need to ensure that you have checked the ‘Redirect all traffic to this domain’.

  1. Adding other domains 

You can repeat the process of step 1 and 2 with other domains as well. You need to ensure that all domains from where your store can be accessible are having influence on SEO.
